Quantum-Touch Therapy training: What is it all About? A Very Personal Story
Aileen M. McKenna, Certified Quantum-Touch Therapy Practitioner/Instructor, Empathic Life Coach
I’ve been working with energy healing since 1993, with Quantum-Touch therapy since 2002, and teaching Quantum-Touch therapy to many students since I first began in 2004. I’ve been on a very personal journey with energy healing beginning in Switzerland in 1990. Since that event, I was determined to learn this work, and to share it with others as an alternative to taking pharmaceuticals and enduring surgery.
Following an automobile accident in 1952 in which my brother’s car was totalled by a highway bus, I had pain in my left leg and hip. Although no one died in that accident, (there were 7 of us in the car), we were rather well shaken up and since I was a child sitting in the back seat with my parents, my left knee was jammed into the back of the passengers seat made of steel at that time, and leaving a spot on my knee cap numb even to this day. I was considered to have no injuries, and when I began to limp 6 months later, no considered the possibility that there was a connection. This was at the time of the great polio epidemic and of course, a young girl with leg pain was a likely candidate. I had a lumbar puncture, and was kept in hospital for several weeks, being sent home with a body cast. This remained on for some weeks, and then was removed. I was never to mention back pain again, as the psychiatrist who visited me in hospital told my parents that I was making up the pain as a means of getting attention. Thereafter, I could not trust my body to let me know what was really going on with it, for perhaps it was my imagination.
This experience, painful though it was, later proved helpful in dealing with clients whose unexplained pain was treated in the same way, was also not true, as I was to later understand where the pain originated. Over the years, this injury caused me much physical and emotional pain, and I was given painkillers by the handful. In fact, it was this experience that finally shoved me in the direction of alternatives. Over the years, I had been given many prescriptions, for pain, chronic infections, and other conditions. I did not realize that there was an alternative.
I was living in France, working in Geneva, Switzerland, and doing a lot of high mountain hiking, wearing crampons and walking roped to the other members of the group when the event that precipitated the shift occurred. On this particular weekend, I really overdid it and developed bursitis in my left hip. I visited a rheumatologist in Geneva, was sent for 18 sessions of physio, and given an anti-inflammatory. Each session of physio hurt more than the previous one, but I did not know what else to do. I took the pills, and had the prescription refilled. At one point, I met a friend, a biochemist with the World Health Organization who cautioned me about the pills, as her colleague in Bangkok was basically bleeding to death from internal bleeding from taking the same pills for rheumatism.
I then visited my other Swiss doctor, an MD, who also practiced homeopathy. She sent me to an alternative practitioner in France who was .practicing cranial osteopathy. I saw him about 3 times, and from the first visit the severe pain was gone. I was determined to learn to do whatever he did when I returned to live in Canada, and to share this information with everyone.
Although I returned to Ottawa in 1991 and began to study Polarity therapy in 1993/94, cranio sacral therapy in 1999, I still had my crooked spine, and although this work really helped, I continued to experience some pain. In 2001 I discovered Quantum-Touch therapy. My Polarity therapy instructor had been able to tell me why I had this back and leg pain, as my lower spine was curved to the left, raising my right hip and causing pressure and pain. However, Polarity therapy did not correct the problem. During the training I received and shared in my home during Quantum-Touch training, on a day following work in my garden, my hip was particularly misaligned, I was grateful, surprised and utterly in disbelief, when one of the students in the class, after about 5 minutes of working on my hips, reported that my right hip, which had been about 2 inches higher than the left one at the beginning of the exercise, was now almost totally in alignment. Imagine the joy I felt after all these years, of now being almost totally straight, and most importantly, painfree. Although, I can still have some misalignment and pain if I’m shovelling snow, or digging in the garden, it takes only about 2 minutes of placing my hands on either side of my hips, for them to rotate back into place and the pain to go away.
That was my personal experience with this wonderful work, and I’ve witnessed more profound changes in my body over the years, as the pain and process that creates the degeneration and aging that we all experience, seems to be reversing itself in my body and that of my clients who continue to have sessions from time to time.
